The Online Drum School You’ve Been Looking For
So you can learn how to play with confidence, progress daily, and finally drum like a pro

...in just 15 minutes a day!

What if there were a proven method for improving your drum skills EVERY DAY without wandering aimlessly through...

  • Random practice sessions that send you running in place on the drumming hamster wheel
  • The vast Sea of Google that leaves you feeling completely overwhelmed and unfocused
  • An endless stream of lessons, videos, and tutorials that have you ready to hang up your drumsticks for good
  • Hours and hours of grueling practice every week

Would you finally feel confident enough to develop a simple practice habit, level up your skills, and jam out like your favorite rock god?

If you’re headbanging like you’re blasting Bohemian Rhapsody in the car...then I’ve got some good news for you...

You can become the drummer you’ve always wanted to be.

You just need to figure out the right approach.

Every day, drum students just like you are building their fundamentals, improving their speed, gaining limb independence, and learning all the little things they need to play the drums with complete liberty and freedom.

What’s their secret?

It’s not surfing around and watching random online drum lessons ‘till your eyes bleed.

It’s not listening to advice from dozens of different artists and teachers (that’s like trying to play all your favorite songs at once).

And it’s definitely not sinking even more hours into practice sessions that never yield results.

So what is the magic formula?

It’s actually pretty simple:

You need to turn off the firehose of information.

Because once you set specific goals, find the simple solutions to those problem areas,
and practice with purpose...

Learning the drums gets a whoooole lot easier.

And instead of treading water by listening to general advice, conflicting messages, and videos that sound like they’re playing on fast forward...

You can focus on a method that moves at your pace, meets you at your skill level, and works with your challenges (not against them).

So whether you’re just picking up the sticks for the first time, you’ve been banging on the drums for years, or you’re getting your groove back after a years-long (or decades-long) hiatus...

You can make progress every day and become the drummer you’ve always wanted to be.

If you KNOW you have the passion to become a drummer if only you could find the right formula, stick with me.

Because I’m about to show you how you can experience confidence- (and skill-) building progress every single day (without all the painful setbacks).

But first, let’s make one thing clear...

You can’t get to your destination without a map.

Learning how to play the drums should be fun.

So why does every practice session feel about as “fun” as scrubbing toilets?

Even though you felt ready to unleash the greatest drum solo this side of Phil Collins...

You can’t even keep up with the Genesis cover band down the street.

Despite taking lessons, buying courses, and playing YouTube roulette in search of the perfect video that will give you that much-needed clarity...

You’re stuck spinning right ‘round (like a record, baby) instead of moving towards your goals.

So you begin to wonder if maybeee you’re not cut out to be a drummer.

And that blazing fire inside you slowly flickers away like a one-hit wonder.

Let’s face it:

You’re tired of taking one step forward and two steps back.

You’re tired of feeling rushed and overwhelmed trying to learn a million things at once (and you’re blowing through ink faster than Travis Barker’s tattoo artist as you write to-do lists).

You’re tired of making excuses and losing interest halfway through a lesson (refund, please?)

The path to being a better drummer has become more emotionally loaded than your average Coldplay song.

The truth is: you’re feeling lost and you don’t know where to go.

So, like a defeated dad on a road trip, it’s time to stop and ask for directions.

If practice makes perfect...

Then isn’t it about time all your practice paid off?

If you’re ready to put the confusion, setbacks, and frustration in the past...

And to follow a focused and structured approach that teaches you how to play the drums the way you’ve always wanted...

Stick with me.

Because I’m about to show you how you can consistently improve your skills, experience daily wins, and play with the confidence and swagger of Dave Grohl on a stadium tour.

And as long as you put in the (minimal) work more days than not...

You can hit your goals.

You can drill proper technique and put your bad habits in the rearview mirror.

You can start playing your favorite music, expand genres, and jam out with others.

You can reignite your creative spark and get passionate about playing music again.

In a moment, I’m going to reveal how I’ve helped thousands of drummers do exactly that.

But first, I wanna let you in on...

The 3 Lies Keeping You From Becoming the Drummer You Want to Be

Lie #1: “Learning the Drums is Overwhelming”

You’ve done it. You’ve set up your drum kit, soundproofed your room, cleared your schedule...

You’re finally ready to pick up the sticks and play.

Umm....now what?

Lemme guess:

You devour a bunch of instructional workbooks in the hopes that they’ll give you the exact step-by-step to learning the drums.

Only you find yourself stalling out on step 1. You realize you have no idea how to figure out rudiments, timing, fills, grooving, transition, or speed (let alone read sheet music).

So may be you join an online membership, attend private lessons, or turn to videos to give you the secret recipe to drumming success.

But despite logging hours of practice, you still haven’t made the leap, and you have no clue how to progress.

Sound familiar?

Yep, learning the drums can be overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be.

Because when you focus on the right material, you can take a straight and clear path to your goals.

By drowning out the noise and taking a methodical approach, you can see daily improvement. And small wins will snowball into big transformations.

What you need: To use a structured and strategic approach to learning the drums.

Lie #2: “You Don’t Have Enough Time to Practice”

How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice, practice, practice.

But even though you know that practice makes perfect, you’re not sure there are enough hours in the day.

In the immortal words of Todd Rundgren:

You don’t wanna work, you just want to bang on the drum all day.

But that’s easier said than done.

When you’re busy putting out fires at the office and at home, it doesn’t leave a lot of time leftover for your hobbies.

So you push yet another practice session back and tell yourself that “future you” will figure it out next weekend.

Because when you have a mortgage to pay and a family to feed, you don’t have enough time to actually learn the drums.

The truth is:

It’s not about how many hours you practice. It’s how you practice.

And one of the biggest roadblocks for drummers is unstructured practice time.

By setting clear goals and expectations for yourself, you can get better (even if you only have 20 minutes to practice a day).

Lie #3: “You Don’t Have Enough Talent”

Look:

Learning the drums isn’t always easy.

Even the greats weren’t able to become rock gods without putting in some serious work.

But when you’re stuck in a rut with no idea how to level up your skills, it can be tough to stay motivated.

So you start to lose your drive and let that negative self-talk creep into your head.

You tell yourself that you don’t have what it takes, you don’t have the chops, you’re not cut out for drumming.

So even if you glued your butt to your seat and got the greatest pep talk since the movie Miracle...

You’re not sure you’ll ever be able to call yourself a serious drummer.

Here’s some real talk:

Drummers aren’t born with natural talent. We create our own talent.

You can learn the ropes and hit your goals. You just don’t know how to do it...yet.

But once you start seeing progress, you’ll have the inspiration to fight through it when things get tough.

What you need: Someone to show you how to overcome your challenges and see daily progress.

Learning the drums doesn’t have to be painful.

It can (and should) be exciting.

Because when you have a customized roadmap to Drum Better Daily, you’ll finally be able to overcome your obstacles, lean on your strengths, and take a linear path to success.

One-size-fits-all solutions like online lessons, books, and videos only go so far.

And, more often than not, they leave wannabe drummers on the fast track to quitting.

But what if you had the knowledge, support, and inspiration of a one-on-one coach available at your fingertips...

And resources that address your biggest challenges and let you move at your own pace (and on your own schedule)?

What if you had a better way to practice, with everything you need to:

  • Create a consistent practice routine and a structured plan for hitting your goals (instead of jumping around from lesson to lesson).
  • Get organized and take a step-by-step approach to drill proper technique, enhance your skills, and kick bad habits to the curb.
  • Shorten your learning curve so you can play the genres, songs, and music you want with confidence.
  • Practice with purpose so you can reap rewards and make progress every time you train.
  • Learn a new hobby and *finally* have fun playing the drums.

Welp, that’s EXACTLY what I’ve created for you.

But don’t take my word for it...

Hear it from some of my favorite people: my students.

“If you want to learn the drums, Stephen is the guy you want to know. I’ve learned a ton from him...from basic fills and chops to stuff I didn’t ever think I’d be able to play, like some world rhythms and jazz.

I’m no expert by any stretch, but I’m much better than I was a year ago! And the learning will continue.

The site is super well organized. You pick the track you want to learn, and BAM! Everything you need from lessons to assessment criteria is right there. You can even submit it to him for feedback. What could be better?”
- Tim Krakowski • Atlanta, Georgia
“Stephen’s lessons have helped me with counting and keeping time, hands and feet technique, fill ideas, and generally learning how to not suck at the drums. The motivation to strive to be better than average pushes me through everyday, post-“9-to-5” work fatigue, inspiring focused and productive practice sessions.
Thanks for everything, Stephen. You rock!”
 - Ren Hutt • Arlington, Virginia
“Stephen’s dedication and abilities as an educator parallel the best in the business. His commitment to the progress of his students is truly inspiring.
Taking these lessons is the best decision I’ve made for my drumming!”
- Matt Sebby • Chicago, Illinois

Wait a sec...just who is this Drum Teacher?

Hi There! My name is Stephen Taylor.

I’m a drummer, teacher, and the founder and owner of Stephen’s Drum Shed.

I’ve always been passionate about music. So when I played my first paid gig at 15, I was hooked for life.
I’ve drummed professionally for over 20 years. In that time, I’ve played nightclubs on Bourbon Street, toured the country with major artists, and got signed to a major record label with my band.

Even though I’ve logged thousands of hours of stage/session time, I’ve never stopped learning how to become a better drummer.

But I’ve also seen that the tools available to aspiring drummers often leave them confused, overwhelmed, and more likely to throw in the towel than to continue pursuing their dream.

So I created my online drum school to help drummers like you stop spinning in circles and start practicing with purpose.

I’ve rolled up my decades of knowledge and put it into a blueprint for drummers of all skill levels to shorten their learning curve, see daily progress, and hit their goals.

So if you’re ready to get focused, use resources that meet your needs, and finally start feeling good (and having fun) while drumming, join me and your fellow drummers inside my classroom.
“I have been pretty lucky...as a music major in college, drums and percussion were my minor instrument. I have had the opportunity to study with some pretty cool and well-known drummers. In the time I have been a member, I can honestly say that I’ve learned more memorable, versatile, and useful drum info and techniques than all my former years and teachers combined!

Stephen presents the lessons in a way that just makes sense! He is super talented player/teacher, and most importantly, it’s obvious that he really cares about his students! Thanks and keep on rockin’!!! *high5*”
- Christo Young
“I have been playing the drums since I was 8 years old until my early 30’s. Like most people, I got married and started a family and after buying a home I gave up playing music. 20 years later, my wife Kim surprised me with a drum kit that summer. Searching the internet for drum lessons *God knows I was pretty rusty* I came upon dozens and dozens of drumming websites.

One of these sites caught my attention very strongly because of the instructor and how he gave lessons. This website was Stephens Drum Shed....Stephen, thank you for what you have done for my drumming ability. I am now playing in a band once again and was at the studio recording our music. It’s true what they say, You’re Never Too Old. From one drummer to another, student to teacher, thank you.”
- John Voloshin • Easton, Pennsylvania
“Thank you for all you do for this community. I’ve said it to you a few times but it’s worth repeating - I’ve learned more since joining SDS than in the previous +15 years from other teachers and on my own.

Just the other day I got an offer for some random drum lesson material and the thought ‘No thanks, that doesn’t fit within the goals I’ve set’ ran through my head like a freight train. That never would’ve happened before as I’ve always been one to chase after that sort of stuff. I’m sure I’m not the only person you’ve impacted to this level so I thought you should hear it again - you rock bro!

The last few years have seen quite the change in my drumming, I’m looking forward to seeing where we go from here!!!”
- Ryan Satnik

BONUSES!

Bonus #1: SDS Tech Talk Courses

Tech issues can derail even the best drummers.

So if you’re afraid a small tech issue will turn into a big headache, I’ve got you covered.
Because your DBD membership also comes with access to SDS Tech Talk courses covering the biggest tech-related topics for new & advanced drummers.

Courses include:
  • The Complete Guide to Drum Tuning to learn everything you need to get a great sound on your drums
  • Drumming & Your Ears to protect your ears and avoid long-term damage
  • Recording Audio & Video to understand the basics of setting up mixing
  • Tools, Apps, & Software with tips on useful items to use
Still have a tech question? Just shoot us a message from the tech talk portal and our team will be in touch.

Bonus #2: Live Q&A and Support Calls

Even though I’ve loaded DBD with all the tools and resources you need to drum better every day...

There may still be times when you feel stuck.

That’s why I host a weekly Q&A call and a weekly teaching call where I give live instruction and dive deep into specific subjects. So that you can get the feedback and advice you need to move forward.
And since I know everyone has busy schedules...

You’ll also get access to call replays complete with jump links to every question and links to all the resources discussed...just in case you can’t make the live call.

Bonus #3: Monthly Guest Artist Calls

It never hurts to have a fresh perspective.
And when you enroll in DBD, you’ll get exclusive access to some of the biggest names in drumming.
Every month, you’ll receive invites to monthly guest artist calls where I engage in free-flowing discussions with professional drummers around the world.
So you can get industry insights and inside advice from drummers who have already climbed the mountain.

You’ll also get access to an archive of past discussions with other artists to view at your leisure.

And much, much more!
I have been practicing almost every day for 9 months (best streak 55 days in a row). A big achievement for me with attention disorder and a full-time job at the same time.

You have to give yourself time and learn slow to get places. I redid 3 months of practice because I thought it was enough with 1 week per lesson, but boy was I wrong. Practice never ends.. but it pays off when done right!

I applied for the music education I really wanted to go to, and I made it!!
It was the 3rd time applying. About 1200 applicants and only 50 get accepted, in total that's 8 drummers.

I really just wanted to say thanks all the way from Sweden. Let your team know that you all made the difference! I'm so proud of myself for achieving my long-term goal. A big fat splash and clap for you guys!

Best regards,
Johan Söderlund

Got questions?

I’ve got answers!

Here are some of your fellow drummers’ FAQs:

I want to become a better drummer, but what if I don’t have time to take advantage of everything inside the  membership?

Look:

I get it.

I may be a professional drummer and drumming instructor, but I’m a husband and father of three first...

And I know how crazy life can be.

So I’m not here to shame you for missing the occasional practice for family dinner or an important work call.

But I’m also here to tell you that I’ve designed Drum Better Daily with the busy drummer in mind.

Which is why I’ve given you the lessons, resources, and support you need to progress every day and take the shortest possible route to success.

As long as you commit to consistently logging into your membership and practicing for at least 15-20 minutes a day, you’ll see real improvement in your skills.

And if you miss a live lesson, I’ve got you covered. You can log in at your convenience and watch replays in the members’ area.

Long story short?

As long as you are consistent with your approach and give it your best shot, you’ll have everything you need to crush your goals.
I’m a total newbie. What if I don’t have any foundational knowledge?

I’ve created Drum Better Daily to work for every type of drummer, whether you’re an aspiring rock god or you’ve never even picked up drumsticks.

So don’t worry if you don’t know how to set up a drum kit or even read music.

Drum Better Daily includes lesson plans designed to help the true novice get up to speed fast. I’ll hold your hand through every step of the process so you can follow a set path to success.

And just in case you have no idea how to identify your weaknesses, you can take advantage of the Goal Generator. Just answer a few questions and we’ll assess your current skills and tell you exactly what you need to work on to start improving fast.
What makes your membership any different than resources I can find on the internet for free?

While my YouTube channel and other online videos can give you some great foundational knowledge, they don’t always give you the exact detailed tools and techniques YOU need.

Enter Drum Better Daily.

Drum Better Daily isn’t just another course or lesson. It’s a start-to-finish drum school with a curriculum designed just for you.

The membership will give you a structured approach to learning that’s customized to your knowledge and skill set.

You’ll get lesson tracks on the exact topics you need help with plus resources, support, and accountability to fast-track your success.

So you’ll always know what to work on, what your goals are, and how to get there.
What if I need one-on-one support?

While I can’t promise that a group membership will give you the level of attention you’d receive from a solo instructor, I can promise that I’ve given you every tool at my disposal to help you improve as a drummer while receiving ongoing support.

Drum Better Daily membership comes with access to 2 weekly calls where I answer your questions and give you live instruction on a wide range of topics. You’ll also receive access to monthly guest artist calls and a library of replays to use any time you feel stuck.

Have a question? Just ask. The community forum is your place to get feedback and discuss your biggest challenges.

And if you want advice straight from the expert himself (aka me), just shoot me an email.

FYI: I personally answer all of my emails from students.

That’s right. No hired guns touch my inbox.

I understand just how important personal contact with a teacher can be on your drum journey. So I’m here for you when you need specific and personalized advice.

What if I’m not a natural-born drummer?

Let’s clear the air:

You can do this.

I truly believe that drummers aren’t born, they’re created.

And by following the right blueprint, you can get to where you want to be.

It won’t always be easy.

But as long as you’re willing to put in the work, fight through challenges, and follow a tried and tested path to becoming a better drummer, you can absolutely hit your goals — whether you want to play your favorite song, play in a band, or just impress your spouse with a rockin’ drum solo.

Not sure if it’s right for you?

No sweat.

DBD is NOT for you if...

  • You don’t want to challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone to improve your skills
  • You’re not willing to correct unhelpful habits and learn to play the right way (even if it means taking a few steps back before moving forward)
  • You think you can get better by taking shortcuts instead of putting in the work and practicing every day
  • You believe you’re not a natural-born drummer and you won’t get better no matter how hard you try

You’re ready to step up to the drum set and join DBD if...

  • You’re just starting out and want to learn the right techniques and fundamentals from the get-go (so you don’t have to fix bad habits later down the road).
  • You’ve been playing for years but your skills have plateaued — no matter how much time or money you sink into getting better.
  • You know a consistent practice routine will help you improve as a drummer, you just don’t know WHAT you need to be practicing.
  • You’re ready to fully commit to drumming as a serious hobby and to put in the work to hit your goals.
  • You’re already sinking time into practices that fail to move the needle and you want to finally enjoy the fruits of your labor.
  • You’ve been thiiiiis close to throwing in the towel because you’re not sure you have what it takes (but really, you just lack the support & tools to get you where you want to go).
  • You’re excited to finally have the confidence to jam out with others, play a song from start to finish, and crush your goals using the resources inside DBD.

If you said “yes” to at least 4 of the above, you’re invited to pursue your passion and give drumming a shot by enrolling in Drum Better Daily.

“I don't know how often you get to hear that you are appreciated but want you to know that you are.

You sent out an email within the last week and it was motivating and, if I'm honest, moving as well. You touched a nerve in a good way. When I watch and listen to you I don't see a guy that is doing what he does because it’s a job and he has to. I see a love for what you do and who you do it with and for. That is inspiring and it helps me to see that playing isn't just about playing for the sake of playing but as a way to create and express the abilities that God has allowed me to have. You're helping me strengthen those gifts and I appreciate it so, so much.

Recently I watched the video of your solo... Then I watched it again. What I took away from that...I don't know the word. Whatever the word is, it’s a good one. :-} I didn't just watch what you were playing. I felt it.

In the past, I've viewed drumming as timekeeping and kind of holding the song together. In your solo I didn't just hear drums--I heard music. You made music. I sat there watching and towards the end, for the first time in my life, the drums weren't just cool, they moved me. I felt what you were playing and I was almost stunned. You did that for me. You've helped me see that sitting behind my set I have an opportunity to be completely original and create something that nobody has ever done before.

So, in summary, thank you!! I know this email doesn't put money in your pocket or feed your family, but hopefully it fills you on a personal level knowing that you are a great influence, motivating and just really appreciated.

Thank you so much!!”

"I’m reaching out to you for two reasons:

1.) I’d like to say THANK YOU for all you’re doing for the drummer community not only in the U.S. but worldwide. I started my journey not long ago to become a hobby-drummer because my 8 years old daughter is very much into music and instruments and I decided to learn also at least one instrument too so that I can spend quality time with her. Drums have been always the area of interest but so far I have not made the step to start with it.

2.) As a FEEDBACK would like to tell you that out of the hundreds or maybe thousands of people out there who make online lessons, give advice, help with tips & tricks, etc. I found you and your way of work the most suitable and valuable to me. Your way of explanations are always crystal clear, provided with the proper amount of context which a lot of others often forget and this is a big value!

With best regards!"

"Hi Stephen,

Just wanted to let you that The Warrior Way is fantastic.

I subscribed two days ago. Spent a day downloading everything so I could follow along. I've been drumming for 2 years now so still a beginner.

I have gone through The Warrior Way to refresh and rehash what I have already learnt.

I am up to Lesson 4 - Billie Jean.

Having spent thousands of $$$ on private lessons over two years I wish I had started with you from the beginning.

I have already learnt things I didn't know or refreshed on things I did know. I guess I was just scared to trust the internet.

I am so glad I took the chance with you and I will spread the good word over here.

Thank you so much.

Regards"
